Strides for Strays 2014 has concluded, however this page and the Donate button will remain active as a reference to Will's six day 140 mile statewide trek. WILL POWER!
Inspired by a runner that trekked from Los Angeles to Miami, as well as by his deaf dog Voodoo, Will Watts will be running from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic Ocean in Florida on the days immediately following Christmas to raise money for the specially-abled dogs of LoveyLoaves. From Spring Hill, FL to Cocoa Beach in six days, this challenge will push Will to a new level while running for a cause that he believes in.

About Will Watts
Age: 28
Where are you from: Tampa, FL What do you enjoy about running: Running allows me to collect my thoughts. I typically do not run with music because a lot of my running is done with Voodoo so I figure one of us needs to be able to hear! Past running milestones: I have completed two half marathons and numerous adventure mud runs. My personal record for a half-marathon is 1:43:15 (which is approximately a 7:45 minute mile pace). This charity event will push me to extremes that I have not yet faced. I will be running a marathon for six consecutive days. Info about Voodoo: Voodoo is a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog. She was adopted at 3 months old from a Humane Society in south Florida. She is practically completely deaf. Her deafness comes from a recessive gene that links extremely light colored irises (sky blue). Her deafness is a blessing and curse. I have to be extremely aware of my surroundings when I am with her and make sure she is safe. But, it also requires her to be extremely attentive to me. When I get her attention she focuses on me like a laser beam. Her attention plus the nature of the breed to be extremely loyal makes her a fantastic dog, and I wouldn't trade her for anything. |
